Hey Sophomores!

christensen rhetoric

Welcome to Mr. Stratton's tenth grade writing lab web site. It's going to be a fun year, and I look forward to working with all of you. This web site will be your primary source for writing lab work, so you should add this site to your favorites on both your school profile and your home computer.

Above is the navigation column for YOUR page. Assignments, whether you are absent or just absent minded, will give you the most up to date work assigned. I try my best to update the site a few times a week, so assignments listed on the site are current and accurate.

As far as work is concerned, we'll divide our time together practicing for the English Regents, working on English class assignments, exploring careers, writing creatively and publishing our work. I've found that this is the best mix of work. You get the chance to stay on top of English class, you get practice for that challenging test next year, and you get to learn a bit about creative writing and how best to express yourself.

Remember that lab is 20 percent of your English 10 grade. It pays to work hard in lab even if you're only here a couple times a week.

I continue to compile lists of web sites and video that are of use to young readers and writers, so don't forget to check out the Writing Help and Find Great Books pages when due dates for that next writing assignment or book review is on the horizon.

In recent years, podcasts have become a great way to experience great literature. I have been collecting some of the greatest stories through audio podcasts over the last several years and have uploaded to this site many of the titles we read in class, which can provide you with some excellent guidance when in-class reading becomes homework. Check out Literature Podcasts!

If you have any questions, just let me know. By the way, you can email me from this site if you can't reach me in school.

I'll see you in class,

— Mr. S
